Mara Ozolins

Research Fellow (Research Governance)

After gaining an MSc in Statistics at Sheffield University Mara worked for 12 years as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry, in a variety of medical areas.  In 1997 she changed direction and managed clinical trials with the University of Nottingham, working on two large multi-centre trials, the first a community-based trial in acne, and the second a hospital-based trial in basal cell carcinoma (a common skin cancer). Alongside her trial management Mara has delivered occasional lectures in trial management and statistical topics and in 2007 achieved associate teacher status.  Mara joined the NHBRU in September 2012 as a research fellow, and is looking forward to applying her skills to a different field.
