Ms Faizah Mushtaq
PhD student (Objective measures)
Faizah joined us in 2016 as a PhD student funded by a studentship from Action on Hearing Loss and Cochlear Ltd. Her work aims to develop an objective measure of paediatric cochlear implant outcome using functional near infrared spectroscopy to examine children’s brain responses to auditory stimuli.
Faizah qualified as an Audiologist in 2015 after graduating with a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Audiology. It was during her undergraduate studies when she first learned about the effects of hearing loss on the brain. She decided to take her interest in this area further by completing an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience.
During her studies and through her role as an Audiologist, Faizah has gained experience working with adults and children who have a hearing loss. Her dissertation projects have strengthened her research abilities and have given her the opportunity to carry out research in a variety of settings.
